Today in class we will watch this video: The Tale of Peter Rabbit. We will discuss its connection to our protagonist, Matt. Finish reading ch. 3 of The House of the Scorpion for Monday. You will need to finish chapters 4 & 5 for Tuesday. If you know you'll be busy celebrating the holiday on Monday, you should read those chapters ahead of time to be prepared for Tuesday's quiz over ch. 1-5.
Today in class you will read this short passage about scorpions.
Continue working on Vocab Review unit 10-12, which is due Friday.
No homework tonight. Get a good night's rest and have a good breakfast in the morning. Be sure to be here on time at 7:30 a.m. Good luck on your AIR test tomorrow!
*Bring Blood Red Horse to class Tuesday & Wednesday for discussion.
Good morning, boys and girls. I am sorry to say that I am very sick and will not be allowed to return to school until Thursday so that I don't get you all sick (doctor's orders). I want to reassure you that all of your grades will be taken care of and posted on time. If you are waiting for help on Study Island, you get a free pass and full credit. We can look at it together when I return. *You will not receive credit, however, if you have not completed any of the work at all and have not e-mailed asking for help. Four Square grades will also be posted, and you will receive your edited copies back on Thursday. In the mean time, I expect you all to behave admirably and to help the substitute teacher(s) in any way you can.
*We will move the Blood Red Horse quiz and jobs for chapters 21-25 to Thursday so you have time to ask questions before the quiz.
Please plan to bring your classic novel to class each day in case you have reading time. Be sure to finish your STAR test is you have not already done so (I'm checking the results at home, so I see you . . .) and complete your practice AIR test. I will post the answer key and we will have time to discuss all of our answers and strategies. See you Thursday!
Good morning, boys and girls. Unfortunately, I am home sick today. I expect that you will all be on your best behavior, and hopefully I will be back tomorrow. Please follow the directions below:
A message from Ms. Casey:
Hi, all! My African American Literature class is hosting an African American Read-In on April 4th (Maya Angelou's Birthday) from 6:00-8:00 at the High School library. We will be paying homage to the sit-ins of the 1960s by asking students of all ages (and their parents) to come to the library and pledge to read a book, poem, play, essay from an African American author for at least 20 minutes. My students will be reading passages from their author study, and we will have a read-aloud corner, food, etc.
