Welcome to 7th Grade Reading!
In Reading 7, students will focus on improving their reading skills by reading high interest texts including novels, short stories, magazines, and news articles. Skill work emphasizes comprehension and incorporates techniques such as main idea, summary, sequence of events, point of view, characterization, theme, setting, text structure, context clues, and inferencing. Language Arts curriculum will be supported when necessary through reviewing of material read in class or assigned for homework, reviewing for tests, and revising book reports and writing assignments. Independent reading will be required in class one day a week. During this time, students may read their book report book or another book of interest. Students are expected to have an independent reading book with them in class every day.
