Grammar Review Assignment - Directions

10/5/2015

Our main grammatical focus in 7th grade is sentence structure. We will identify structures and use our knowledge to improve our own variety and syntax in order to strengthen our writing. However, before we can identify structure, we must be able to identify the clauses in a sentence; in order to identify clauses, we need to be able to identify the parts of each clause. And so we begin at the beginning. This week you will work your way through most of the parts of speech, refreshing your memories to prepare for our upcoming work. You will be completing these assignments ON YOUR OWN while Mrs. Vitek edits with each student individually. You are encouraged to work with classmates when you need help.

Here is your schedule for the week:

Monday: Check vocab 3 & four square rough drafts as a class, then work independently on NOUNS.

Tuesday: Work independently on VERBS.

Wednesday: Work independently on ADJECTIVES.

Thursday: Mrs. Vitek will be out for a district meeting. You will complete some assigned reading and review work for Treasure Island. You must also have all of your previously assigned grammar work done for tomorrow.

Friday: Class review of answers for nouns, verbs, and adjectives.

**We will continue with ADVERBS next week. You will have a final grammar assignment to complete for a grade. You will be allowed to use all your work from your grammar review to complete it. (We will also return to Treasure Island next week.)
